Key Characteristics: Cell rounded at anterior end, pointed at posterior end; body 2X as long as wide; body slightly flattened on one side and more rounded on the other; anterior spine relatively short and thin; cell small, usually less than 30 μm long
Confused With: Prorocentrum gracile, which is much bigger, has a more pointed posterior end, and has a more robust spine
