Key Characteristics:Cells cylindrical and weakly silicified; form tight straight or sometimes undulate chains by abutting valve faces; two elongate chloroplasts
Confused With:Possibly with Leptocylindrus danicus at first glance, which have numerous small chloroplasts and are more heavily silicified; also with Pseudo-nitzschia spp., which also have two chloroplasts, but which are more pointed or needle-like and form step chains
