Key Characteristics:Cells cylindrical and weakly silicified, with flat, convex, or occasionally concave valves; form stiff chains; numerous small round chloroplasts
Confused With:Possibly with Leptocylindrus minimus at first glance, which have only two chloroplasts and are more lightly silicified
